Dr. Tillman is a licensed psychologist who specializes in treating children, adolescents, and young adults with emotional and behavioral challenges and medical conditions. Her approach is strengths-based, individualized, and integrative. She works collaboratively with families and youth to adapt strategies from evidence-based treatments to improve well-being and functioning. Through this work, Dr. Tillman values flexibly integrating treatment modalities, working together to identify needs and goals, and harnessing strengths to empower individuals and families and optimize treatment. Dr. Tillman also practices from a holistic framework, holding space to understand and connect the mind and body, past experiences, and family, community, and cultural identities.  

Dr. Tillman specializes in treating patients with conditions that include: chronic pain; psychosomatic symptoms; acquired brain injury; epilepsy; sickle cell disease; postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), functional neurological disorders; and various other medical conditions. Dr. Tillman also specializes in working with patients presenting with neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and learning challenges, as well as emotional challenges, including anxiety, stress, and depression.

TREATMENT MODALITIES

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioral Parent Training (BPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Pain-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PF-CBT), and rehabilitative- and executive functioning/flexibility building-based approaches.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dr. Tillman received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park with her APA-accredited predoctoral internship training at The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School/ Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. She also completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Children’s National Hospital with specialized training in therapeutic interventions for youth and families within the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program.
