Step 1:

Contact Us

Our practice offers a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs. NOVA PS will typically reach out to you within 48 hours to confirm your request. During the call, we will introduce our approach, learn about the challenges for which you are seeking support, and answer any questions. If we determine that our practice may be a good fit, NOVA PS will work with you to schedule an initial evaluation.

Step 2:

Complete Paperwork

Once your initial evaluation is scheduled, we will email you access to our patient portal. In the portal, you’ll receive paperwork to complete before the first appointment. The paperwork includes information about our office (e.g., policies, insurance, fees), consent forms, and initial questions to help us better understand your concerns and goals for therapy. We will be unable to meet unless these forms are completed, so be sure to complete this packet at least 1-week before your appointment.

Step 3:

Initial Evaluation

The initial evaluation appointment is different from a typical therapy appointments as we'll be gathering information on what brings you to therapy and begin to explore potential goals.  The first appointment typically lasts 90 minutes; however, depending on patient needs, the evaluation process can take up to three appointments.

One of our primary goals for the initial appointment(s) is to make a connection and ensure you are matched with the right provider who can best meet your needs. Together, you and your provider will discuss your concerns and goals for treatment and develop a treatment plan.

Step 4:

Begin Therapy

Therapy sessions consist of research-supported techniques and regular measurement of progress toward your goals. Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes and scheduled weekly or every other week depending on your concerns and treatment goals. Together with your provider, you will work on gaining new insights into yourself/your child, learning new tools, and applying them to your everyday life for real and meaningful change.

Please note that Dr. Fletcher and Dr. Rizakos are currently accepting new patients for health psychology services; however, some afternoon hours are limited. Please note, providers at NOVA PS do not participate with specific insurance plans and are considered out-of-network (OON); however, providers will provide documentation for reimbursement. Please review our ‘Fees’ tab for more on payment and insurance reimbursement.
